Course Eligibility

Eligibility criteria for the CDS examination include a minimum age limit of 19 years for IMA and a maximum age limit of 24 years for AFA, on 1st January of the year of the examination. Candidates must have a graduate degree from a recognized university for all three services.

Nationality:

(i) a citizen of India
(ii) a subject of Nepal
(iii) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and EastAfrican nations including Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the goal of settling permanently in India.

As long as a candidate falls under categories (ii) and (iii) above, they must be people.

Note –The requirement for an eligibility certificate will not apply to applicants who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

Educational Qualifications for CDS Exam:

(i) IMA and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai — Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.

(ii) For Indian Naval Academy— Degree in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.

(iii) For Air Force Academy—Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
